Git is a relatively mild British slang term, used to denote a silly, incompetent, stupid, annoying, childish or senile elderly person. Linus Torvalds said: “I’m an egotistical bastard, and I name all my projects after myself. First Linux, now git”. Git has become a complete revision control system though originally it has been designed only as a low-level engine.
