Terry Semel leaves Yahoo - good riddance

The largest contribution of Terry Semel into Yahoo stock performance has been his resignation - stock gained about 6% and investors gained $2.2 billion in market capitalization terms. Besides acquisitions of Flickr and Del.icio.us and success of Yahoo Answers, Yahoo has botched everything it touched in recent years. I used to be regular customer of Overture, which I remember with a touch of nostalgy - since it transformed into Yahoo Search Marketing it lost every feature I hold valuable. I miss old del.icio.us index page - no fancy icons - just stream of hot bookmarks. Yahoo hosting is outright scam. Guy Kawasaki made a mistake of hosting his Truemors on Yahoo hosting, as soon traffic upsurged Yahoo closed account. Price of Yahoo hosting services is unjustifiable by no means, service is unexisting. Yahoo lost every market share to Google in both vital segments - advertising and searches.

No matter who will replace Terry Semel, he/she can’t do worse.
