To raise money for Glide Foundation, philanthropic organization helping the poor and homeless in San Francisco, Warren Buffet auctioned the right to have lunch with him on Ebay. The auction attracted 72 bids. The winner, Mohnish Pabrai, manager of Pabrai Investment Funds, paid $650,100 to share steak with Omaha billionaire.
Yongping Duan, a Palo Alto, California investor and lunch winner 2006, paid $620,100 to dine with Buffett.
Jay Leno raised $800,100 for the American Red Cross’ tsunami relief effort by auctioning on Ebay a Harley Davidson motorcycle autographed by celebrities.
A lunch and golf party for four with Tiger Woods was sold in 2001 for $425,000.
