Two metrics are used to measure efficiency of email marketing campaign:
- Open rate is ratio of emails opened (less emails bounced back) to emails sent. Number of emails opened is measured by placing an image inside email newsletter which works as a counter. Average open rate is about 15%.
- Clickthrough rate is ratio of clicks on link within email newsletter to number of emails opened. Average clickthrough rate is about 3.5%.
If you send about 100,000 emails, about 15,000 is about to be opened. That should bring about 500 - 600 visitors to your website.
